Oprah Oprah Oprah

The Oprah show has a lot of pictures and commentary available on the Harpo site for her show called: Behind the Yearning for Zion Gates. The show is on today (4 p.m. Utah time), but until you can watch the program, you might find this other material interesting.

Oprah is intelligent and sharp. She sees things. I'm intrigued with this show in a way that I wasn't with the first. The fact that Oprah went into the ranch personally is fascinating. I'm interested in hearing what she thinks about it.

I hope you'll write about it and let us know how it goes. I'll be in the dentist's chair at the time and won't be able to see it.

I'll try! Right now I'm just excited I can set aside the time to watch it. I have some evening appointments later but I'll try to post my thoughts about it as soon as I get the chance.

I just watched it..she asked some tough questions:) I really enjoyed it..I really LOVED the teenage girls. They were charming, funny and more importantly NORMAL! Imagine that! At times, I thought Oprah was a bit abrasive for the nature of the FLDS Ranch. I thought she came off a little bit insensitive to their lifestyles, love of privacy and religion. For instance at the dinner table. That was an awkward scene between Oprah and the Father of the home (I'm sorry, I forgot his name) All and all, I really enjoyed it!

The first time she came to Texas, she was being sued by the beef industry.

She isn't going to win any more friends in Texas with this show either.

I just wonder how they explain how she was "Brainwashed" for saying what she did.

I thought she was very respectful and more importantly - she asked the questions people at home were asking in an attempt to demystify the FLDS, which is SO important in making sure a travesty like the raid is never allowed to happen again.

I taped the show and just watched it today. To me, Oprah seemed fair and respectful, although her personality is very strong and I think that could come off as disrespectful to someone who isn't familiar with her television show.

My thoughts on the the community is that it is a tragedy that all their children were taken like that, I don't believe their rights were respected. They were wronged. I am glad all the children (minus one) are home safely and are putting it behind them. Their religious beliefs are their beliefs and I don't endorse or dispute them. They definitely have the right to build their community and live their lives, this country was founded on religious freedom.

The stories that frighten me are the ones I hear about babies dying and being buried in unmarked graves, kicking out boys in their teens, and girls getting married against their wills before the legal age...and I feel this should be monitored.
