How Have Policy Approaches to Polygamy Responded to Women's Experiences and Rights? An International, Comparative Analysis: Final Report for Status of Women Canada
by Angela Campbell

Abstract:
Devising effective legislative and policy strategies for dealing with polygamy in Canada requires an analysis as to how practices associated with plural marriage impact upon the lives of women. This report seeks to illuminate how life within a polygamous marriage might affect women's social and economic status, as well as their overall health and well-being. This report also undertakes an examination of law and policy approaches to polygamy worldwide, with a view to assessing whether existing responses to polygamy adequately address the needs, rights and realities of women living within plural marriages. Based on this analysis, recommendations are made as to the most appropriate approach to polygamy in the Canadian context.

Interesting read! I have to get back to it..It's quite lengthy. Although I am not FLDS, I am a Polygamist Christian Fundamentalist. I have to roll my eyes at most of the things posted from "scientific" people evaluating plural families although they don't live this lifestyle themseleves. Why would I listen to a women with NO children giving me advice about raising mine?? Sounds a little off.
I have read until the "jealousy among sister wives" before my toddler wanted some breakfast:) I do have to say that this is not new, even in Mono marriages. I have many many mono friends who scream and yell in jealousy to their husband because they assumed their spouse was looking at another women. I've had many mono friends complain about their hip size and the lack of mine. I've had mono women tell me I was "too skinny." I never see anything written about jealousy among women, PERIOD! Just because you live a Plural lifestyle, it doesn't make you immune to the innate feelings of man. It's when you work through those feelings for the better of the family unit that make my lifestyle worth it:)
